The cage is made with 2 mm diameter wire, fully welded for strength and rigidity.  It is zinc plated after manufacture to provide weather protection and a quality finish.

The all metal 180 mm peanut bird feeder, which is included, attracts squirrels and feeds tits and finch size birds.

29 mm clear holes in the purpose made 31 mm square mesh allows small birds, such as tits and finches, to enter and leave easily without feeling confined.

Single catch and single top entry with self closing and self locking  spring loaded door.  Separate hinged floor door for releasing animals and attaching the optional refuge cage or a box.

The trap can also be used horizontally on the ground or in a building  using the treadle adapter provided. (See below left).  Squirrels have excellent vision and when the trap is used inside a loft with a dimmed light, squirrels will be attracted to the food in the feeder and not only have to rely on their sense of smell.

Grey squirrels are vulnerable to cold and wet weather and they may not survive if held captive for a long period or overnight in any open trap.

A covered Elgeeco Refuge Cage attached below the floor door provides a darkened weatherproof compartment into which a captured squirrel can retreat if it wishes.

Use of the optional Refuge Cage is recommended when traps cannot be checked more than twice a day during periods of bad weather or before nightfall.

In areas where red squirrels may be present, always provide nesting material and check the trap frequently.
